Here is a review of the book Who Really Cares? The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism by Arthur Brooks. The book simply states the facts about who gives and who doesn't in America.
Liberals, who are traditionally thought to be so concerned about their fellow man, believe it is the government who ought to take care of people. Conservatives, who are thought to be ready to sell out their grandmother to make a profit, are more than 30 percent more charitable not only to religious charities but to all charities.
In a similar book, Makers and Takers, Peter Schweizer talks about the "I gave at the office" mentality of Liberals who think they pay their taxes to take cares of these things and ought not have to give any more. Schweizer also wrote Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocracy.Remember the saying "Put your money where your mouth is..."? Or how about Matthew 6:21 which says, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
